Bordeaux Tram 1
One of the new trams on the streets of Bordeaux, France. The trams use a ground
level power supply to collect electricity in the city centre to avoid unsightly
cables. The novel Alimentation par Sol (APS) power supply system uses
a central 'live' rail which consists of 8m insulated sections. These become
live on activation by a radio trasmitter on the tram car ensuring that only the
rail underneath the car is powered at any time.
