A Collection of photographs of
Selby Abbey
in Selby North Yorkshire. The abbey is almost 1000 years old and is still in
remarkably good condition, this despite being almost destroyed by fire in 1906.
The building has many 'claims to fame' including being the birth place of King
Henry I and having a stained glass windows bearing the coat of arms of George
Washington's family (from which the American flag was derived).
Like the nearby York Minster, Selby Abbey is a great photographic subject with
many fine details easily missed when trying to capture the grandeur of the
building as a whole.
